HADRA, FROM ONE WOMAN TO ANOTHER

Conversation between Maha El Madi and Laila Hida

Followed by a Performance of HADRA sacred chants by Lalla Khalla and the gifted mothers of Dar Bellarj

From an encounter between two women, strong bonds of friendship, sisterhood and transmission will be woven, extending from the private sphere to the common space of the Dar Belarj Foundation. Maha El Madi retraced the path that led the practice of spiritual chants of the Hadra to integrate the program of the space to become a foundation through the meeting of Lalla Khala. In this way, she gave back a physical and sonic space to a practice that is increasingly confined and marginalized by its religious connotation. The Hadra was reborn here as a place of memory from one city to another, from one saint to another.
