Performance by Madani

We invited one of Mauritania’s most renowned musicians, Madani, who rarely performs. His lyrics concentrate on local social issues, his overriding theme revolves around erasure of core values within African societies which infiltrates his repertoire. He is particularly keen on addressing how the modern borders erected have disrupted former harmony between neighbors as well as between countries within the region. Madani has a full range of traditional music and folktales narrated in the vein of ancestral practice.
