Laura Kloeckner Germany Cultural Manager, Curator Contributions: Staff Laura Kloeckner joined DOX BOX in 2020 and leads the programme Women in Dox. She works as a curator and cultural producer and is part of the Berlin based art space SAVVY Contemporary – The Laboratory of Form-Ideas. She previously worked for the Industry Department of DOK Leipzig, the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film and the European Film Market (EFM) of the Berlinale, where she co-organised the Berlinale Africa Hub between 2016 and 2019. Laura completed her MA in Politics and Postcolonial Studies at SOAS, University of London. Mai El-Gammal Egypt, Germany Senior Coordinator Contributions: Selection Committee, Staff ABC Germany, Academy, Doc Free Zone, Residency in Exile, Residency MENA Mai manages support programs in DOX BOX including the Residency. She’s been part of our team since 2015. She sets up collaborations, manages grants and allocation of the resources for associated activities. Her previous experience in the cultural sector in mainly in Egypt, before she resumed her studies in Germany. She holds a master’s degree in Cultural Management of New Media and Cultural Studies from Karlsruhe University, Germany. Mai is fluent in Arabic and English and has basic conversational skills in German. Jihan El-Tahri Egypt, France Director, Producer, visual artist, writer Contributions: Selection Committee, Staff Residency MENA Jihan is the General Director of DOX BOX. Having started her career as a foreign correspondent covering Middle East Politics, since 1990, Jihan has directed and produced documentaries for BBC, PBS, Arte and other international broadcasters. Her most recent documentary “Nasser” was part of the official selection at Toronto International Festival 2017. Jihan has produced and directed the acclaimed documentaries “Behind the Rainbow”, “ Cuba, an African Odyssey”, and Emmy-nominated “House of Saud”. She is engaged in various associations and institutions working with African cinema like the Guild of African Filmmakers in the Diaspora, the Federation of Pan African Cinema (FEPACI), and Focus Feature’s Africa first Program, and is a mentor at Documentary Campus.
